La Rosa Enflorece to celebrate Old Stuff Day
Yesterday was Old Stuff Day, a rather brilliant excuse to rummage through the attics of our memories and celebrate the things that have stood the test of time. While others were dusting off antique teapots, I found myself wandering through my repertoire! To mark the occasion, I’m sharing one of the oldest treasures I play, La Rosa Enflorece. This hauntingly beautiful Sephardic song has been bobbing along through history for centuries, carrying the echoes of a world long past.

Community Ensemble Music in London

What you are watching: This is music at its most collaborative and heartfelt. It's about participation, connection, and joy, performed by people who truly love music. This is the other side of my craft, not the most professional performances, which are more formal, polished, and paid gigs you see wit

How to Improvise Solos for Gama - Gypsy Romany piece
Pachelbel’s canon... Meets wild Hungarian Gypsy fire?! 🔥🎻 Yes, you read that right! The start of "Gama" (our beautiful Gypsy Romany piece, Book piece No. 24) begins with that familiar, elegant chord sequence. But then—it breaks into pure, exhilarating Balkan improvisation! 2007 Rare London Gypsy Orchestra performance at SOAS
Just before we dive into our 2008 LGO memories, look what popped up! A huge thanks to an amazing LGO fan for sharing this rare footage of the London Gypsy Orchestra performing at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London, back in 2007. The lighting may be authentic 2007 university-hall gloom, but the energy is pure gold! This is a fantastic, raw snapshot of the orchestra in action. If you love this one, there's another clip from the same event waiting for yo
