Looking back at 2011, it’s amazing to see how far our musical family had come! 🎻✨

This chapter of our archive series holds a very special place in our hearts. 2011 was all about shared learning, community energy, and two of our most meaningful projects: Gypsy-It! and the Gypsy Exchange.

One of the absolute highlights was collaborating with the extraordinary Czureja family — a Polish Romani musical family. Virtuoso violinist Ricardo Marek and his son Benjamin on guitar generously taught us traditional pieces and dances that forever shaped our identity as the London Gypsy Orchestra.

From workshops at the Round Chapel to premiering Gundula’s arrangement of Evrah’s breathtaking spoken-word art 'Time' at Union Chapel, 2011 reminded us of the true power of learning and creating together.
