A "Tavern Tune" from the LGO archives...
Continuing our journey through the London Gypsy Orchestra (LGO) archive, today’s find is a real spark of energy! This is an excerpt of Mesk Havasi — a title that translates beautifully to a "Tavern Tune" or "Coffee House Melody." It’s the kind of music that belongs in a room filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and camaraderie. Looking back at this performance, I’m reminded of the incredible, raw energy we shared on stage that night. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it carries tha

La Rosa Enflorece to celebrate Old Stuff Day
Yesterday was Old Stuff Day, a rather brilliant excuse to rummage through the attics of our memories and celebrate the things that have stood the test of time. While others were dusting off antique teapots, I found myself wandering through my repertoire! To mark the occasion, I’m sharing one of the oldest treasures I play, La Rosa Enflorece. This hauntingly beautiful Sephardic song has been bobbing along through history for centuries, carrying the echoes of a world long past.

Perry is back! 🍀
While I’ve spoken about my "Lion Head" Panna Czinka, there was another soul on board when Ludwig VAN Beethoven was taken: my beautiful Perry and Wilkinson violin. I found this instrument during the lockdown in Ireland, tucked away near Dublin, and I fell for its voice almost as deeply as I did my Klotz. It has a character all its own! 🇮🇪🍀🔥 To have it back in my arms feels like the missing piece of a puzzle. This excerpt of Zigano, recorded during my violin trial performan

The Van That Vanished
I’m sitting here on my self-carved seat, with the self-crafted holster made from leftover latex covered in beautiful sand-golden velvet, for about an hour now, staring around me. What is going on? Everything is almost normal — just with the difference that I have a week of going through hell behind me. My beautiful Ludwig VAN Beethoven had been gone for one week and one day, almost precisely. It had been stolen. Or had it? Or had aliens taken it and dropped it back to Earth

Those were the days, my friend!
Listening to "Dorogoy Dlinnoyu" today, I find myself thinking of Natasha — one of our past performers whom I have missed most since she left Britain. She possessed a voice and an energy so deeply passionate that it completely threw you; she's truly one of the sweetest souls I have ever met. This song, often known in English as "Those Were the Days," and cherished across generations, feels like the perfect vessel for that nostalgia. It’s a celebration of the roads we’ve walked

Honoring Holocaust Memorial Day with Djelem Djelem
A few days ago, on the 27th of January, the world observed Holocaust Memorial Day. With this video, we would like to raise awareness for the Romani involvement in this tragic history — a narrative that is often left in the shadows. This arrangement of "Djelem Djelem," the official Romani Anthem, was originally commissioned to commemorate the lives lost and the stories silenced during the Holocaust. While the history of the Jewish people is widely recognized, it is a vital his
