Happy World Piano Day!
How lucky are we? Most of the time, The Bluebelles have the absolute pleasure of performing alongside one of our brilliant pianists 🎹🎶 To celebrate World Piano Day, we’re sharing a little snippet of that "Bluebelle" magic through Autumn Leaves. It’s our way of saying thank you to the instrument — and the wonderful hands that play it — for making our musical world so much richer. Planning a celebration of your own? ✨ Whether it’s a cultural landmark, a vintage-themed gala, o

We are absolutely chuffed to be returning to one of our favourite haunts, The Gallery Cafe in Bethnal Green, for a very special (and nearly free!) evening of music.

Happy Spring Equinox ✨
Today, the world stands in a perfect, quite civilised balance — day and night, light and shadow. It’s a moment of profound renewal, and what better way to greet the waking earth than with a proper bit of music and energy? 🌸🎻 This snippet comes from a performance recorded at the lovely Benslow Music, and it feels like a rather fitting celebration of the shift in seasons. We're playing a Hora from Oltenia, a Romanian dance that practically breathes the energy of Spring. With

World Storytelling Day: A Tale of Happiness ✨
Did you know that today is both World Storytelling Day and International Day of Happiness? It feels rather appropriate, doesn't it? After all, nothing brings quite as much joy as a well-told tale and a bit of a fiddle! 📖💖 To celebrate, I’m sharing a few snippets from our immersive storytelling show: "The Cat Who Plays the Violin" 🐱🎻 In this performance, we weave together folklore, live music, and a touch of theatrical magic to transport audiences (young and old!) into a w

Found footage from the Vortex Festival, 2014
Take a little trip down memory lane with me to a time when East London was buzzing, the sun was (mostly) out, and the air was thick with the scent of street food and raw Balkan rhythms 🎻🏙️ This was recorded outdoors in Gillett Square during the Vortex Festival in 2014, over a decade ago 🤯 The Vortex Jazz Club has always been a proper cornerstone of the scene, but there’s something quite special about taking the music out of the club and onto the pavement for a bit of a pub

A "Tavern Tune" from the LGO archives...
Continuing our journey through the London Gypsy Orchestra (LGO) archive, today’s find is a real spark of energy! This is an excerpt of Mesk Havasi — a title that translates beautifully to a "Tavern Tune" or "Coffee House Melody." It’s the kind of music that belongs in a room filled with laughter, clinking glasses, and camaraderie. Looking back at this performance, I’m reminded of the incredible, raw energy we shared on stage that night. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it carries tha

La Rosa Enflorece to celebrate Old Stuff Day
Yesterday was Old Stuff Day, a rather brilliant excuse to rummage through the attics of our memories and celebrate the things that have stood the test of time. While others were dusting off antique teapots, I found myself wandering through my repertoire! To mark the occasion, I’m sharing one of the oldest treasures I play, La Rosa Enflorece. This hauntingly beautiful Sephardic song has been bobbing along through history for centuries, carrying the echoes of a world long past.
