Gundula's Great Eurasian Roam: Pedalling Past Mozart and Mountains 🎶🏰

I feel like I'm lingering a little too long in the "Euro" chapter of this journey, itching to push forward toward the Asian horizon! 🌍✨ However, there are soooo many kilometres to cover. In addition, a veritable mountain of paperwork has accumulated that feels steeper than climbing any of my alpine mountain peaks 🏔️ of the few days—only without the view 🧗♀️.
Along the way, I uncovered a major cultural and infrastructural gap between the UK and Germany/Austria: finding a café where you can actually sit down with a laptop to work is practically impossible! Sockets and Wi-Fi 💻📶 - two simple essentials - turned into a frustrating hours-long wild goose chase that meant I spent my day cycling in circles instead of getting things done. Phew, what a mission! 🚴♀️💨
As a first stopover to climb my mountain of admin, I chose Rosenheim because it was directly on my route, the alps WITH the view are still close by - and I simply couldn't miss checking out the real-world setting of one of my secret guilty pleasures: a cozy German criminal comedy television series I watch faithfully 📺🕵️♀️.
Rosenheim is a lovely, snug place - at least when you aren't caught in quite as much rain as I was ☔. Seriously, where on earth had those summer heatwaves gone? 🌧️💦☀️
My second stopover, Salzburg, was also en route. Whilst I was eager to rush past Austria and push deeper into territories that still feel exotic and unknown to me, a practical stopover was essential. Plus - though it sounds a bit silly - I genuinely couldn't remember if I had ever actually visited Salzburg before. Well, mystery solved: I hadn't! 🏰🎶
