Ljubljana is one of the most delightful places I have seen in ages! As the capital of Slovenia, it is remarkably beautiful, spotlessly clean, and impeccably maintained, yet brimming with genuine charm and warmth.

The city is cradled by a breath-taking Alpine mountain backdrop 🏔️.

Unsurprisingly, this geography means the local traditional music landscape is still dominated by the Oberkrainer sound 😢, though thankfully it is not overly prominent in the city itself. Instead, Ljubljana’s cultural life is far more focused on the higher arts, classic architecture, and creative expression 🎻🎨.

Exploring the historic centre reveals a rich tapestry of beautifully preserved buildings, striking churches, and a wonderful selection of cafés and restaurants ☕. In peak season, it does get a bit too crowded with tourists for my personal liking, but stepping just beyond the main tourist trail reveals a vibrant alternative music and art scene ✨. My stay was too brief this time to meet the local musicians properly and explore these subcultures, so that remains a key goal for my next return!

Watch my impressions in this short video below 🎶👇:

Speaking of videos, let me also share two of my cycle ride videos through Ljubljana: one through the City Pazar (Central Market / Osrednja ljubljanska tržnica) and another along the Ljubljanica river, where you can soak up the city's wonderful atmosphere! 🚴‍♀️✨🌊
