Hi hi! Our "Bringing Tunes Home" series has reached an interesting spot in the beautiful country of Bulgaria! 🇧🇬🎶

The genre is Kalushari, which is a scherzo—a whimsical, humorous dance—and it was just the right kind of music for what happened...

I took a bus ride out of the Bulgarian city of Ruse, hoping to find a beautiful spot on the Danube. Picture stepping off in the middle of nowhere, met with a wonderfully puzzled look from the bus driver! My aim was to find a serene riverside spot, but my feet ended up covered in scratch marks from the effort of reaching the water—and they stayed that way for weeks afterwards! 😅

Well, the video tells the full story... and it’s a good one!

You can find the full piece and all the other wonderful tunes in my book, Balkan Music from the Danube: https://www.magicviolin.uk/danube-balkan-music-book
