Benslow Balkan Weekend Workshop 2026 - Benslow Music, Hitchin

A gentle nudge for those of you looking to broaden your musical horizons this May!

I’m absolutely delighted to be returning to Benslow Music in Hitchin from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th May for a deep dive into the soul of the Balkans 🌍🎻

This isn’t just your standard workshop; we’re venturing into the slightly more mysterious, charismatic traditions of Bosnia and Kosovo. These styles carry such a unique "Meşk" (soulful conversation) — a beautiful blend of Ottoman elegance and Yugoslavian grit that you don't often find in Western Europe 🕌✨

Who is this for?

If you have a pitched instrument (strings, wind, guitars, ouds, you name it!) or can hold down a rhythmic accompaniment, you’re more than welcome! We’ll be learning by ear to capture those tricky, expressive phrases, but I’ll have sheet music on hand to guide our journey 🎼🕊️
